Best Audio Recorders for EVP's

This was from feedback received to AAEVP.com

Best Recorders:
Olympus WS-300M
Panasonic RR-US395
Panasonic US360
Sony B-26
Sony B-7
Radio Shack 125
Olympus VN2100PC (this is cheap but its a beast)
Olympus VN3100PC (basically any Olympus VN series recorders are great)

So-so:
Voice 2000s DA300
Sony B300
Panasonic US360
Panasonic DR60

Worst:
Olympus WS-100M
RCA RP-5012B
Panasonic RR-DR60

We also recommend getting the Olympus ME52 Recorder Microphone. It is very sensitive and reduces wind, weather, and other noises.

  1. Hey guys, I am a fan of the site. Are you sure the 3 recorders you listed as "worst" from AA-EVP are correct? After reviewing their site, it seems they all cherish their DR60s and 5012s. I did not see anything on the WS-100M. It is possible I saw a new, updated posting or old, out-dated posting.
Here's my question, can you guys recommend a solid recorder for someone on a budget? There are so many options, opinions, etc. I have heard anything will do, but I am not sure I believe that either. Thank you for any advice you may have. Keep up the great work.

  3. They didn't put any pro audio recorders on the list. I use a tascam dr-05, and it will smoke anything else out there. Going price is only $85 bucks on ebay, so they are an amazing deal. 320mbs at 96khz sample rate with great stereo mics, all in a heavy duty quality recorder. Seriously, they are the best thing ever!
