Cheap Infrared Light (night vision) For Camcorders

Ever want good nigthvision from your camcorder, but don't want to pay $50+ for a Sony IR light? Try making it yourself. I just finished making one myself. The total cost for me was a whopping $4 but it will cost you around $10 if you don't have some of this items that are necessary. All you need is the following:
- CCTV 16 8mm IR light board = about $5 online (I've seen the 36 light board for as low at $7.
- 2 AA battery holder = $1.50 at radioshack
- 9 Volt Battery Clip Snap Strap Clasp Connector. $2
- A little extra wire ... < $1
- Switch $2 (not necessary)
- Container. free
- 1 9V battery. free
- 2 AA batteries. free
- Soldering iron. ?

The light has about the same distance as the Sony models, but is 5 times cheaper and the light is 4 times wider than the narrow square of light that Sony offers.

    1. Just get an 8-battery holder (ebay), a replacement CCTV IR board (ebay). Then fill the holder with 8 batteries. There are two wires that come off of the battery holder... Those need to touch the + and - connection on the back of the CCTV IR board (you will see it).
